Chairman's message, 19 March

Dear member,

I trust this email finds you well. In light of the current Coronavirus situation, I would like to update you on the club’s current situation:

  • Club AGM 8th April: This has been postponed until further notice.

  • Clean Up Day 24th March: This has been postponed until further notice.

  • Playing Tennis: The courts remain open, and will do so until government guidelines state otherwise.

  • Weekly Organised Games
    • These will continue being organised as they are a member arranged activity. We ask those that attend to respect current social distancing advice and obviously do not attend if you are feeling under the weather.
    • These will continue until such time as the members decide not to attend or government guidelines advise otherwise.

On a different note, as we will not have the AGM to provide you with the latest news, here is an update:

  • Clubhouse refurbishment
    • The clubhouse is getting a facelift!
    • We are currently talking to contractors about replacing the roof, updating the wiring and plumbing, cladding and insulating the interior and creating a changing room area. I’m afraid I cannot give you an indication on when this may be carried out at present, but we will keep you informed and we will limit the inconvenience to players as much as possible.

  • Padel Tennis Court
    • Based on the member survey, this has been deemed a top area of investment for the club. We are in the early stages of assessing the site and getting quotes for the groundworks. The club is positioned well for views, but less well builders. As such, the initial quote has been a lot higher than anticipated.
    • I am unable to offer a timescale for this project, but we will keep you updated with its progress.

  • Path Access
    • The path from Onslow Road to Bonaventure Road remains closed.
    • We closed access as recommended by a geotechnical site survey carried out by Red Rock GEO. We have recently had Red Rock return and carry out a further investigation after various works had been carried out by our neighbours. Sadly, the advice is to keep the path closed at this time.
    • We have been given some recommendations on how to secure the path once other works are completed by our neighbours. We will look into this, but please consider the path may be closed for the foreseeable future.
    • The path is closed for safety reasons, and we would ask members and indeed the public to respect this decision. We apologise for the inconvenience.

That’s all for now. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via email: pcbholt@icloud.com.

Best regards

Philip
