... at our committee meeting yesterday, we unanimously confirmed our intention to reopen the path as soon as possible subject to incorporation being complete and to getting sign off from the technical surveyors and our public liability insurers that we will be properly insured.
We continue to work on these two fronts, but it all takes time and we are all volunteers. Please allow us time to complete these critical tasks properly. And we do appreciate that the path being closed is a source of frustration – it certainly is for many of us on the committee!

We are aware that there is a petition circulating regarding the reopening of the private path through the club grounds from Onslow Road to Bonaventure Road.
This path was closed in 2018 due to safety concerns. A recent survey has expressed caution about reopening it, and therefore it currently remains closed. We hope to be able to reopen the path in the future once it is safe to do so. On Thursday 8th December, we'll be returning to the King's Arms for our Christmas dinner, and Christine Milton has once again put together a special menu for us and at a very reasonable price too.
The menu is on the Social Events page. Please email John Sprague asap with menu choices for yourself and your guests. We have decided to start a Club Pickleball Morning on Mondays at 9.30 am, and this will aim to be a fun session as we are all novices with much to learn!
As there is only one court we will limit it to the first eight members to sign up. If you are interested in playing please message Chris Coles directly on 07776 345906 ... coffee will be provided! ... you'll see that more lines have appeared between the Mini court and Practice Wall – this is a Pickleball Court - many thanks to Roger Brownill and David Alcock for marking it out.
The club has the bats, balls and net which you'll find in the clubhouse - please return them after you have finished playing. Enjoy Pickleball! From Chris Coles, Club Chairman:
The weather is looking reasonably settled now ... so we’ve decided to hold a summer social next Wednesday 27th. The courts are booked from 5.30. The idea is to have some play and a picnic afterwards. It's strictly BYO picnic and beverages ... no barbecues please! Hoping to see as many of you as possible. PS obviously it’s weather permitting! Chris ... was a great success, and I'm sure we'll be heading back to Swallows Barn for another social ... perhaps in the warmer weather??
... has unfortunately been cancelled - just not enough of us available to make it viable, so we look forward to seeing you at the March supper!
... the February supper is coming up in a couple of weeks' time, on Thursday 3rd - click here for full details and booking;
in March we'll be going to a new venue, Swallows Barn in East Soar; and on 8th December we'll be returning to the KA for the Christmas dinner (yes, we're still in January, but why can't we look forward to Christmas?) ... it was great to restart the winter suppers with an evening at the yacht club last week. Next up is - of course - the Christmas Supper on Thursday 2nd, when we'll be welcomed back to The Kings Arms. The menu and prices were detailed in an email on 6th November, and are also available on the Social Events page - please reply as soon as you can.
