Fire Safety Policy for Salcombe Tennis Club Limited
2025
1. Policy Statement Salcombe Tennis Club Limited (“ STC”) is committed to providing a safe environment for its members, visitors and contractors. As an unmanned facility, our fire safety is dependent on the vigilance and cooperation of all members. This policy outlines the procedures to be followed in the event of a fire and sets out STC’s commitment to fire prevention.
2. Roles and Responsibilities
The Board: As the “responsible person,” the Board is accountable for all fire safety matters and ensuring that a fire risk assessment is conducted and reviewed annually, or after any significant changes.
Designated Volunteer ( Fire Safety Officers): The Board have delegated Sue Squire and Chris Coles to be the Fire Safety Officers to oversee fire safety arrangements, including maintaining the fire safety logbook and arranging equipment checks.
All Members, Visitors and Contractors: Everyone must familiarise themselves with the fire procedures, evacuation routes, and assembly point. In a fire, each person organising a group session is responsible for raising the alarm, evacuating safely, and calling the emergency services. In the event there is no group organiser, the person booking the court or in the case of a contractor, the person onsite, is responsible for raising the alarm.
3. FirePrevention
General Housekeeping : All members must keep fire exits and escape routes clear of obstructions at all times.
Electrical Equipment: STC will ensure that all portable electrical appliances are tested regularly (PAT testing). Members should switch off and unplug all electrical appliances after use and before leaving the Clubhouse.
