Yes, we're all looking forward to the summer and the continued relaxation of restrictions, but we thought we'd book a venue early for this year's Christmas dinner. It will again be at the King's Arms in Fore Street, on Thursday December 2nd - put the date in your diary, more details will follow later in the year.

It's great to be open again, but due to the current restrictions on staying away from home, we can only allow local members to use the club for a short while - but expect to welcome all members back from April 12th.
Following the publication of the “road map" out of Lockdown, we are pleased to confirm that the tennis courts will be open from 29th March. Please note, this will be for full members only at this stage due to ongoing travel restrictions. We would like to welcome all members back to the club from 12th April.
Singles and doubles will be permitted. Please maintain social distancing and wipe down all surfaces before and after play. The toilet facilities will remain closed at this time. The courts have not been played on for a while, and as a result may be more slippery than usual. Please take care. ... following the Prime Minister’s announcement this evening of new national lockdown restrictions to be introduced across England, the LTA has confirmed that regrettably all outdoor tennis facilities will need to close.
Sadly, the threat of COVID still lingers. With Christmas fast approaching, and the government relaxing rules for 23-27 December, it is vital we maintain our vigilance and keep everyone safe.
Please only use the courts if you are local or are visiting from a part of the country in Tier 2 or lower. We ask members from Tier 3 areas not to use the club. Please only use the clubhouse facilities if absolutely necessary and maintain social distancing at all times. We have posted a QR code on each of the gates and the clubhouse door. Please could every member "check in" using the NHS Test & Trace app on every visit to the club. Yes, we're reopening on Wednesday 2nd December for singles and doubles play, subject to Government and LTA guidelines.
And we've decided to suspend the Tuesday afternoon club sessions to allow more flexibility for individual bookings; the Tuesday evening sessions will resume as usual when summertime starts. It will come as no surprise to you that we've cancelled this year's Christmas dinner. Hopefully we'll be able to get together for our winter suppers in the New Year.
As the AGM is being held by Zoom this year, we've published the minutes and accounts from last year, and you can find them via the Links page.
The regulations coming in to force on Thursday 5th November require us to close the club for the duration of the lockdown. We had hoped that we would be allowed to play singles, but unfortunately not.
Meanwhile, keep fit, get outside and make the best of things. With lockdown being reinstated on 5th November, there will be restrictions on playing, and we are currently waiting for clarification from the LTA. In the meantime, the courts may only be booked for the current week (i.e. up to Sunday 8th) but please be aware that any bookings from Thursday onwards may have to be cancelled.
